Our Mission Worcester County Department of Social Services improves the quality of life for citizens of Worcester County by empowering individuals to become self-sufficient and productive, assuring that prevention efforts to protect the vulnerable, pooling resources, maximizing partnerships, while respecting the diverse cultural values with in the community and our agency. Our Guiding Principles We believe that... Education, work, and a positive belief system are necessary for achieving independence. Partnerships and alliances with business and the community are critical to out customers' ability to achieve and maintain independence. Families should be the first resource for emotional and financial support of their children and other family members. Assistance should be provided to people who are physically, emotionally, and/or mentally challenged or are temporarily unable to achieve independence and safety; services should be extended to those who are victims of or vulnerable to, abuse, neglect, or exploitations. Employees must be involved in maintaining a work environment that encourages customer service, high quality delivery of services, respect of ourselves and our customers, and continuous learning. The effectiveness of human services must be measured in terms of productivity, cost and results.
